Best App for Earning Cashback

    So, I don’t know about you, but I love free money!  Do you use apps or websites to earn cashback on your purchases?  If so, what happens to that money? Mine used to just get absorbed into my bank account, easy come, easy go. This is no longer the case! Now I use this cash to help pay for discounted Disney gift cards to use towards my next vacation!

Wanting to go somewhere else on you next vacation? No problem! This cashback can be used ANYWHERE and on anything! It is deposited directly into your bank account.

Many apps or websites provide cashback on many purchases. Today I’m going to talk to you about an app that I discovered 2 years ago. Since that time, I have earned hundreds of dollars in cashback from it!

Without further ado, let’s chat it up about DOSH, one of my favorite apps. Have you heard of it?

First, let us talk about how DOSH works.  Dosh is an app that gives you INSTANT cashback on purchases and travel from specific companies.  When you are sign up for the app, use the credit card on file and click the link to the participating store in your app, you will get cashback.

Sounds like some other apps or websites you use, right? Why do I love DOSH? Let me count the ways.

1.  In most cases, you are notified almost immediately after a purchase that you have earned cashback as well as the amount.  That instant feedback is most appreciated by me.
2. Unlike other cashback sites, you can transfer money to your account as soon as the total reaches a minimum of $25.  Some others that I use and enjoy only send you the cash once per quarter.
3. My grocery shopping and wholesale shopping options are FREQUENTLY included on the app.  This means I earn cashback A LOT faster here than I do on other sites. For example, Walmart and Sam’s club are often included.
4. If you are shopping in person, purchases happen AUTOMATICALLY.  You don’t even need to think about it. It’s fun when you order pizza for example, and you get cashback not realizing that was even going to happen.

Things to be aware of when signing up for this app.

1.  You will need to insert your account information for credit cards.I believe you will also need to verify your bank account.  I know this freaks a lot of people out. As the designated guinea pig, I am here to tell you that after 2 years, so far, so good.  DOSH uses Braintree to store your card information. This means they do not personally store it. Braintree is associated with PayPal. If you’ve had good luck with PayPal security, know that you will most likely have good luck with DOSH too. Additionally, they have fancy security in place to keep your wallet safe within their app.  Nobody is going to be able to swipe your cashback.
2. If you use various credit cards when you shop, make sure to put all the numbers into your app.  It is a sad day when you make a big purchase, wonder why you didn’t get your cashback only to realize you didn’t use the right card. I may or may not speak from experience.
3. Stores come and go making offerings with DOSH, and sometimes very quickly. Our Texas grocery chain, HEB made an appearance offering cashback on DOSH. Excitedly, I informed anyone and everyone I knew about this! Within 2 weeks, HEB was no longer on the list and I have yet to see it come back. Boo.  Dominos pizza did the same.  This is how it goes.  Expecting it ahead of time helps stave off disappointment. The good news is many stores leave only to return. Sam’s Club has been this store for me.  It’s a happy day when you release your favorite store is back to offering cashback.
4. Notice what types of purchases qualify for cashback.  For example, currently Walmart’s offering is specifically geared at people who order their groceries online and do pick up or delivery.  You’re going to be sad if you go to the store expecting 2% cash back, only to realize that being lazy and ordering it from your couch was the way to earn your money.
5.  While the account will acknowledge that you have earned money, the cashback from many vendors appears to be pending for as long as 30 days. I suspect this is to keep people from making purchases, returning items and pocketing the cash.

John and I took a COVID Walt Disney World trip back in August. I will talk about this next week. It was a very affordable trip.  One thing that made it affordable was the cash I had to use from DOSH.  I took nearly $100 I had gotten back from DOSH so far this year and bought Discount Disney Gift Cards to use on our trip. That cash got us a fancy dinner out at Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort (not to mention some Dole Whips and water bottles the next day).  That memorable meal experience was ours because I signed up through DOSH.
