My Favorite Credit Card for Booking Free Hotel Stays

My family has stayed for free in hotels for years in cities all over the country.  These include, but are not limited to, places like Honolulu, Orlando, Denver, Colorado Springs, Portland,  Anaheim, New York City, Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Dallas, just to name a few.

How has this been possible? Through one of my most favorite credit cards: The World of Hyatt Credit Card.

My friend Caroline told me about this card a long, long time ago. Other cards have come and gone for me, but this particular one stands the test of time in my travel arsenal.

How does this particular card work?  In a nutshell, you earn points that can be used towards stays at Hyatts worldwide.

You are probably wondering, “How do I earn points towards nights in Hyatt?” Well, let me tell you the ways!

  1. You earn 4 bonus points for every $1 spent at a Hyatt with your credit card.  You also earn 5 base points when you are a World of Hyatt member.  So for every $1 you spend at a Hyatt, you earn 9 points!!! 9!!!  Compare that to any other card’s bonus features. So, a $100 stay earns you 900 points! Crazy! Another travel credit card I carry would have only yielded me 200 points in the same spending circumstances.
  2. You earn 2 bonus points for every $1 spent on getting around.  Uber, tolls, taxis, trains etc.
  3. You earn 2 bonus points for every $1 spent on airline tickets!
  4. You earn 2 bonus points for every $1 spent on gym memberships.
  5. You earn 1 bonus point on everything else.

In addition to earning points through spending, you earn a free night in any category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort every year after your cardmember anniversary.  What types of hotels are included in a category 1-4?  Well, category 1 is their most affordable Hyatt Place and a category 8 is a super, duper swank resort. Categories 1-4 are going to get you a solid night with a delicious hot breakfast in most cities for up to 6 people in most likely a Hyatt Place or Hyatt House.

If you spend $15,000 on your card during your anniversary year, you will also be gifted an additional hotel stay in a category 1-4.

Do you enjoy traveling internationally? If so, this is definitely a card for you. You will incur NO international travel fees.  You will also enjoy travel protection when you use the World of Hyatt to book your vacations!

As you might guess, the World of Hyatt credit card gives you some special perks when you first sign up.  You will earn 25,000 bonus points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening the account.

You will earn an additional 25,000 in bonus points after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first 6 months of opening your account. This is not including all the points you accrued spending!

Can I just stop here and spell out for you how many free nights those 50,000 bonus points alone can earn you?  Most places we stay at during our travels range from 5,000-12,000 points.  That translates to 10 nights in the 5000 point Hyatt Places! Holy. Cow.  There is a Hyatt Place in San Antonio that we frequent that only cost us 5000 points. They are definitely out there. Many are 8000 that we enjoy frequenting, such as the Lake Buena Vista Hyatt Place in Orlando, Florida.  You can still stay there for 6 nights and be near the House of Mouse 🙂

What are the other perks I love from Hyatt? Complimentary water bottles, late check out, hot breakfast, waived resort fees,

and free internet, just to name a few. I love their basic Hyatt Place vibe as the quality is comparable regardless of whether you stay in Lubbock or New York City.  I love being spoiled at places like the Driskill Hotel in Downtown Austin (yes, also owned by Hyatt) or roasting marshmallows over an open fire at the Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop, Texas.

Believe it or not, there are more perks associated with the Hyatt World of Travel credit card. I’ve just covered some of my favorites.

At a fee of $95 a year, this card for travelers is hard to beat. For more information, and to apply, please go to https://www.referyourchasecard.com/205a/P3YRXTPPOT

Happy travels!
