Well, hello March!
What does the month of March mean to you? For me, March means Spring is coming. It means pretty flowers, lots of rain, and green lawns.
It also means Saint Patrick’s Day is coming!
Who else loves St. Patty’s Day? To me, it falls the category of low-maintenance holidays that you can elevate with minimal effort.
Wanting to start some traditions that are easy, memorable and will not break the bank? Here are a few we love!
Lucky Charms and green milk for breakfast.
Lucky Charms are an INCREDIBLY special occasion food at Casa de Creer. We get them exactly one day, and that is March 17th my friends.
This year instead of dyeing our milk, I am letting the Lucky Charms do it for me! This limited-edition version came out recently, making my morning even easier. My kids will think I phoned it in on the green milk until they pour it over the cereal!
- Saint Patty’s Day MAD libs! We love MAD libs around here! Young and old alike can have a great time with these!
You can purchase MAD libs here OR print this special printable I created just for you to do over dinner on St. Patty’s day this year!
- Send your college kids a care package! Ok, I am terrible at mailing these. Confession: my daughter’s Valentine’s package is STILL here. Luckily, Amazon can be your best friend in this area!
Go here to see some fun options! If you are a prime member, not only will they ship for free, but they will also make it in two days. Big score.
While your college kiddos are transitioning into adulthood, a package at St Patty’s day is a nice way to help them experience some childhood magic. And who does not love a package?
- Make a tradition out of having corned beef and cabbage for dinner. It is easy and most kids, young and old will at least eat half of it. We do this some years and I am always surprised by how simple the meal is. Throw in some potatoes (also legitimately Irish) and you have a very balanced meal!
- End the day by making shamrock sugar cookies with your family. Who knew shamrocks would make such a cute cookie? They are PERFECT and have no burnt edges unlike the occasional Christmas tree cookie casualty!
Our Best Bites has a fantastic recipe that you can find here. This cookie cutter is another Amazon gem! You can find that here. Or you can just buy that stuff that comes in a blue tube with a Dough Boy on the front. That stuff is legit AND easy. Hope these ideas help make your Saint Patrick’s Day simple and delightful.
